About Chatsworth House
The gardens at Chatsworth House are among the finest in England, representing over 450 years of garden design and development. Set in the heart of the Peak District, these 105 acres of gardens combine historic features with contemporary design in a stunning landscape setting. The gardens feature a mix of formal and informal areas, from the elegant South Lawn to the wilder areas along the River Derwent. The Cascade, a magnificent 200-yard water feature created in the 1690s, remains one of the garden's most spectacular features. The Emperor Fountain, one of the highest gravity-fed fountains in the world, creates a dramatic display. The Rock Garden, created in the 1840s, showcases alpine plants in a naturalistic setting, while the Rose Garden provides traditional English charm. The Maze, planted in 1962, offers fun for visitors, and the Kitchen Garden demonstrates productive gardening at its finest. The Stand Wood, with its extensive network of paths, provides woodland walks and stunning views. The Serpentine Hedge, a unique topiary feature, and the contemporary sculptures scattered throughout the garden add modern interest to the historic landscape.
