The gardens feature an early 17th-century walled garden situated on the site of a smaller, earlier enclosure. This walled garden, covering approximately 0.25 hectares, is enclosed by red-brick walls with ornamental castellated capping dating from the early 17th century. Within the garden, there are arched recesses likely constructed as viewing seats during its original development. Beyond the walled garden, the estate includes a woodland garden developed in the 1930s, featuring mixed evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs, along with remnants of walks lined with clipped evergreens. A sunken rose garden, entered through a stone arch removed from the Parliament buildings before Charles Barry's remodeling, is also present. Additionally, two large pools between the rose garden and the kitchen garden's south wall, appearing on a 1597 map, are believed to be of at least 16th-century origin, possibly medieval fishponds.
