Broadfield Park, located in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is a historic public park recognized for its special historic interest. It was designed by Messrs Stansfield and Sons and opened in phases between 1870 and 1874. The park was officially listed on the National Heritage List for England on April 24, 2001, under List Entry Number 1001522, and is designated as Grade Ii. The park encompasses approximately 6.8 hectares and features a formal layout with sunken lawns, ornamental bedding, and a statue of Alderman G.l. Ashworth, J.p., erected in 1878. Additional elements include serpentine paths, a small lake, and extensive views across Rochdale and the surrounding countryside. The park also incorporates Sparrow Hill and Broadfield Slopes, which were added in the late 19th century, and Packer Spout and St Chad's Gardens, laid out in 1925. In 2000, Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council received a grant of £1,150,400 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for the restoration and enhancement of Broadfield Park. Today, Broadfield Park remains a valued public space, offering visitors a blend of historical significance and natural beauty.
